An advantage of ABS over PLA is that it’s soluble in acetone so two separately printed pieces can be easily fused together or varnished with just a few drops. Also, ABS filament is more flexible than PLA, is easier to recycle, and is more resistant to high temperatures.

On the other hand, printing with PLA creates a much softer smell (if the ABS printing smell is an issue). It is naturally transparent and thus easier to color to various degrees of translucency and opacity. PLA-printed objects are more rigid and will have a glossier look. Corners of PLA objects tend to be sharper as well, and prints tend to warp less. Finally, ABS filament requires a heating bed whereas it is optional for PLA prints.

PLA is the recommended plastic for beginners because of its ease of use and lower warping properties.

 How do I store filaments?

For long term storage, our filament is best stored in a sealed bag or container. This is to prevent absorption of the air's moisture. Filament that has been exposed to moisture for too long might produce lower quality parts.
